Shelby Wilde, what’s your background, what compelled you to start writing? I fell in love with creative writing in elementary school with a "Show, don't tell" writing assignment. I still remember the prompt was to describe how messy your room is. I absolutely loved finding ways to show the room was messy, instead of listing all the reasons why. I went on to earn my Bachelor's Degree in English from the University of California, Irvine and after years in business communications, I finally get to write for kids! What book from your childhood do you remember the best? Why? Not a book, but … [Read more...] about Author : Shelby Wilde

What’s your background, what compelled you to start writing? I've always been interested in literature and studied English at the University of Sussex, England. I'd been dabbling with writing on and off, but it was when I was living in Taiwan teaching English to kindergarten-age kids that I really saw the power of a well written and illustrated children's book. The capacity for a well crafted turn of phrase, captivating character or hilarious illustration to capture the imagination of its audience was fascinating to me. My goal for my children's books is to craft stories that bring joy to … [Read more...] about Author : Jon Hales

What’s your background, what compelled you to start writing? I've been writing for as long as I can remember. I used to write a lot of short stories in primary and secondary school. Then moved on to writing plays and short films when I went to college (twice!). I'm not sure what compels me. I just get an idea and have to write it down in whatever form it comes out. With Strings, I remember it began as a writing competition entry with set guidelines on what to write. I liked what I wrote and ended up expanding it into a book. What book from your childhood do you remember the best? Why? This … [Read more...] about Author : Christopher Galvin

What’s your background, what compelled you to start writing? I have always had a passion for writing since I picked up my first Nancy Drew book at the age of 9. I’m an avid reader myself, and always found myself writing things down to explore further later on. My 7th grade English teacher had told me I should write children’s books, but I was always so shy and introverted. I wish I had started writing earlier, but, better late than never! What book from your childhood do you remember the best? Why? Nancy Drew was always my favorite because I enjoyed the suspense of solving mysteries, and … [Read more...] about Author : Alisa Guttadauro

What’s your background, what compelled you to start writing? I've always loved writing. And I started collecting children's books long before I ever had kids. So, I guess, if I had been paying attention, I would have known it would come to this eventually. What book from your childhood do you remember the best? Why? I love all of the Frances books, by Russell and Lillian Hoban. She was cheeky but kind. I also loved Corduroy, Mike Mulligan and the Steam Shovel, and all of Sandra Boynton's books. I remember coming across If You Give a Mouse a Cookie and thought it was brilliant. Bought it … [Read more...] about Author : Julia Inserro

What's your background? What compelled you to start writing? I've been a software developer all my life; even when I've been in management roles, I've always been hands on. I like to learn new things and figure out how things work. I wanted to help children learn some of the computational thinking skills needed to code, and so the Kanga Roopert & the Clubhouse Coders website was bourne. The Kanga Roopert picture books seemed like the next progression and we're going to include a lot of VR in those too. What's your writing kryptonite? Urgh! Social media! Your social media presence is … [Read more...] about Author : DM Burdett
